Fan fury after Teen Choice Awards winners revealed to be producer picks

Teen Choice Awards organisers faced a backlash from voters after it was revealed that public votes alone do not determine the winners.

Viewers spotted in terms and conditions aired on the show that the ultimate winners of the awards are chosen by producers.

Despite fans being asked to vote every day on the TCA website for their winners, the terms and conditions state: "The results of the voting were tabulated electronically by Teenchoiceawards.com and confirmed by a committee of Fox representatives.

"Teenasaurus Rox Inc had the right to determine the winners from among the top four vote getters of the nominees in each of the 88 categories. Ultimate choice was determined by the producers."

This means that fans who continued to vote for their top choice may not have been influencing the result shortly before the ceremony.

Fans also noted that One Direction were wearing the same clothes in their acceptance video for their Choice Music Group award as they were at their perfume launch two weeks ago.

Many voters took to Twitter to vent their fury.

One fan tweeted: "I just lost a part of my week voting for something that doesn't count," while others used the hashtag "#teensdonthaveachoiceaward".
