How to get hair like this for one night only

And how not to pay the consequences come Monday morning.

Just when you thought it was an overnight beauty sensation which would come and go as quickly as faking freckles (yes, that happened): coloured tresses are here to stay and the trend has gone into overdrive.

But, there are a few things you should know before attempting it, or risk turning Friday night’s lilac creation into Monday morning’s slightly grey, washed out mess.

Sofía Vergara Has the Worst Hair Day in History!

What happened to Sofía Vergara?!

The usually sexy star looked downright dowdy in L.A. Thursday. The 42-year-old Colombian actress was photographed having the worst hair day ever. And her smeared lipstick would make Cover Girl cringe!

What's more, Vergara's famous curves were covered in an over-sized gray shirt and ripped sweatpants.
Don't worry: she wasn't suffering a meltdown.

She might not be smiling but the singer has plenty to be happy about after she walked free on drugs charges and headed back into the recording studio

You'd expect her to have a huge grin spread across her face following a date with a hairdresser, but Tulisa looked nothing but miserable on her latest outing.

Celebrity Hairstylist Jen Atkin Talks Fall Hair Trends

Celebrity hair stylist Jen Atkin is constantly on the move. Whether she’s on set with Reese Witherspoon (shown in Atkin’s Instagram shot above), flying to Canada to teach a hair seminar, or in the salon styling Chrissy Teigen—it’s pretty much all hair, all the time. "It’s great seeing people express themselves through their hair," says Atkin. “I feel like there’s so much creativity buzzing right now.” I asked her about what she thinks will be big this fall.

What fall hair trend are you most excited about? Accessories! Playing dress up with scarves, jewels, and hats like they did on the runway at Giambattista Valli and Chanel. I love the alternative to conventional styling.

She dished on everything from how her fiancé, Justin Theroux, would feel if she went under the knife to why she thinks that aging is awesome. Read on for Jennifer’s candid interview.

Meet The Nigerian Fashion Designer Building Africa's Hermès

Kunmi Otitoju, a 30-year-old Nigerian fashion designer and entrepreneur, holds two Computer Science degrees – a Bachelor of Science degree with first-class honors from Howard University and a Master of Science degree from Virginia Tech. But her first love was Fine Art. As a high school student in Lagos, she won the Fine Arts prize at school every year – for 3 years.

Having moved to the U.S. when she was 17, and then to Europe at the age of 25, Otitoju found herself deeply enmeshed in western culture. Keen on preserving her Nigerian identity and eager to propagate facets of Nigerian culture, she conceived the idea of lining high-quality leather bags with Aso-oke fabric, a hand-loomed cloth woven by Nigeria’s Yoruba people.

Vlogging African fashion: Online the new trend?

Established and emerging African designers are showcasing their work at this year's Africa Fashion Week London. But in an era where vloggers are increasingly setting fashion trends, BBC Africa's Alexis Akwagyiram considers whether the fashion focus has moved from the catwalk to cyberspace.

The fashion world is, stereotypically, summed up by the image of beautiful models gliding up and down a catwalk, adorned in flamboyant clothes.

Why Raf Simons is not your average fashion designer

The Belgian creative director of Dior releases his new own-brand collection, created with artist Sterling Ruby, in stores this month. Here’s why Simons always steals the show

Brand

What other designer would entirely re-brand for a season? Because this is exactly what Simons has done. For AW14, Raf Simons becomes: Raf Simons/Sterling Ruby. This collaboration with the American artist, a friend of Simons’ for just short of a decade, is a fully committed project – rather than the usual fashion-art union, which involve a simple nod from the artist. Here the pair mined both their worlds, from shape to fabric, through technique and references, to create an entire collection with 47 runway looks. Highlights include parkas with patches, striped duffle bags and excellent knitwear – while, for the serious collector, there is a series of limited-edition, hand-painted hooded coats costing £18,545, which go on sale later this month.

Ottawa artist opens European-style fashion boutique

Isabelle Gauvreau’s paintings explore the beauty and sensuality of women’s naked bodies. Now the visual artist is turning her creative eye to dressing them with the opening of Isabelle, a new boutique in the ByWard Market.

“It’s a small space, but it’s a great space,” says Gauvreau of the tiny shop located on a premium fashion strip on Dalhousie Street. Victoire and Workshop Studio & Boutique are on the same block; Ottawa fashion designer Frank Sukhoo is down the street and Amanda May Lingerie is only a few doors down.

8 Ways to Make Your Eyes Appear Larger With Makeup

Eyes are the most noticeable feature on our face and it is a main focus area in makeup artistry. Naturally, it is a desire of many women to have big, youthful looking eyes. Unfortunately, nature does not always cooperate and we are not all left with our ideal eye size and shape. The good news is that it doesn't matter whether you have small set eyes or you just want to make them pop. Here are 8 quick and easy tips that are fantastic ways to help your eyes appear larger and get your peepers popping!

What to Eat When You’re Stuck in Makeup for 5 Hours

Seen “Guardians of the Galaxy" yet?

The sci-fi blockbuster, which features a literally colorful cast of characters, required actors to endure as many as five hours in the makeup chair. Zoe Saldana’s green-all-over look is the layered product of three complementary emerald tones. Dave Bautista’s intricately etched red tattoos on gray skin are the result of painstakingly brushed, splattered, and sponged green, yellow, and red makeup.

The Safest Makeup?

There’s a little known brand based out of Santa Monica, California that plans on not-so-quietly shaking up the $65 billion beauty industry. Beautycounter calls itself the safest beauty brand on the market, with a “never list” of over 1500 ingredients it deems too harmful to include in anything that touches your skin—from sunscreen to lip balm. (To put that into perspective when compared to other brands, the United States has only banned or restricted 11 ingredients from cosmetic use, versus the European Union’s 1,300.)

Who needs permanent makeup?

Everyone has their own share of flaws. At the same time in this fast-paced world it becomes difficult to indulge in proper makeup sessions to hide those imperfections.

But, isn’t it equally important to look unblemished and attractive to survive in this ever-competitive world?

Exactly, says Gunjan Gaur, Permanent Makeup Expert and Executive Director of ALPS Beauty Clinics, while she reveals who all require the boon of Permanent Makeup – a makeup which lasts forever while hiding your flaws.

To finish out our Simplify Your Life series, we're bringing you double the expertise for two classically time-consuming routines: skincare and makeup.

10 Male idols Before and After makeup

It comes as no surprise that make up and styling can greatly transform a look -- that's why so many people do them everyday to the point that some of them refuse to even go out unless they've put on their mask.

While makeup is an essential part of being an idol, some of them bravely proved that they had absolutely nothing to worry while simultaneously proving the power of makeup by revealing their bare face to the public (gasp!).

Tamara Beckwith Veroni's beauty secrets

The stylish gallerist reminisces on her beauty inspirations

Rather oddly I remember being fascinated by a spiritual type of lady at my primary-school summer fête in Kew. She had made all sorts of lotions and potions out of rose petals, lavender, gardenias and essential oils. All very magical to my young mind. I was at her stall for hours trying them, but the best part was she wrapped up purchases in silver-foil packages. It was the late 1970s - all very bohemian. I subscribed to a make-up club at boarding-school. A monthly shipment arrived and I slapped it all on!

Doctor Who series 8, episode 1 review: Peter Capaldi’s Doctor may just be the best yet

Tonight, in a not particularly Tardis-like screen at the British Film Institute on London’s Southbank, members of the press, expert Whovians and lucky competition-winners gathered for a preview screening. This first episode of Doctor Who’s eighth season is titled “Deep Breath” – appropriate, given the heart-stopping anticipation it has generated in the 12 months since Peter Capaldi was announced as the new Doctor.

There have been lengthy debates about the 56-year-old Glaswegian actor’s suitability for the role. Forums and Twitter feeds have been clogged with speculation on production details and there was even a mysterious scandal in July, when scripts and footage were leaked online.

Review: Woody Allen's "Magic in the Moonlight" a French period romance

Romance blooms under the sun and the stars in Woody Allen's "Magic in the Moonlight," a high-spirited bauble that goes down easy thanks to fleet comic pacing, a surfeit of ravishing Cote d'Azur vistas and the genuinely reactive chemistry of stars Colin Firth and Emma Stone. A welcome balm for the blockbuster-addled soul, Allen's 44th feature finds the director back in the 1920s Gallic mood of 2011's "Midnight in Paris," with the star-crossed lovers this time held apart not by time but rather by philosophical inclinations.

Love him or hate him, filmmaker KEVIN SMITH is a popular and rather successful guy.

Review: 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'

The "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" franchise earns a Michael Bay-produced 3-D reboot that spares no expense in special effects and spares no decibels in the volume that is the soundtrack to all their new mayhem.

These digitally animated supersize turtles have real-world presence and weight, stomping onto the scene like teenagers who haven't learned to do anything quietly. Their brawls with trigger-happy foes from the Foot Clan are a blur of body blows and bullets. Their wisecracks are up-to-date, their love of pizza unabated.

Entertainment has many firsts

Entertainment is a movie of many firsts. Besides the fresh pairing of Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah, it is the first film that has the actor sharing screen space with a dog.

It is also the directorial debut of Farhad-Sajid. Not just that, in his more than two-decade long career, this film marks Akshay's first association with producers Ramesh S Taurani and Jayantilal Gada. This rib-tickling comedy revolves around Akhil Lokhande (Akshay), who initially comes up with devious plans to knock off his father's pet dog so that he can inherit the fortune, but eventually ends up sharing a bond with the canine. Taurani feels that the scenes between the actor and the dog are the film's USP. He says, "You'll see a completely different side of Akshay when he interacts with the dog. We were keen on having a Golden Retriever play the role of Entertainment. Accordingly, our crew in Bangkok found Junior. He was well-trained and we're happy with the results."
