NBC News Host Brian Williams Pulls Ultimate Embarrassing Dad Trick Announcing Allison Williams' "Peter Pan" Casting

If your parents have ever pulled out the embarrassing baby pictures, at least they didn't do it on live TV.

NBC’s production of Peter Pan has found its lead in Girls star Allison Williams, following the announcement that Christopher Walken will portray Captain Hook. The news was first announced on NBC Nightly News by Brian Williams, who took the opportunity to cite some of Williams’ acting credits like her role on Girls and the big one – that time she wore a Peter Pan costume at age 3.

Turns out, the last name isn’t just coincidental and Brian Williams is Allison’s father. Everyone has an embarrassing parents story, but this is taking it a step too far.

Williams congratulated his daughter, saying: “Family members confirm she's been rehearsing for this role since the age of three, and they look forward to seeing her fly.”

The Girls star also issued her own response to the casting announcement, saying: “I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true.”

Well, thanks to her father, we know she wasn’t exaggerating.

NBC’s Peter Pan Live follows the success of the network’s first musical adaptation – The Sound of Music Live, which aired on December 5, 2013. It was produced by Oscar veterans Craig Zadan and Neil Meron and was watched by 18.6 million viewers. Peter Pan is set to air on December 4 this year, possibly turning the live musical into an annual tradition for NBC.
