James Franco confirms new film Child of God is 'really dark'

Thriller is based on novel by same author as No Country For Old Men and "ten times darker"

Actor and director James Franco has promised that his upcoming adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel Child of God will be “ten times darker” than the film adaptation of No Country for Old Men.

The acclaimed 2007 film is also based on a novel by the same author and is unrelentingly bleak - although brilliant.

'Sharknado 2' Breaking Audience And Social Media Records

Television audiences flocked to watch the second instalment of ludicrous straight-to-TV series

The cross-conceptual gore-fest Sharknado 2: The Second One has become the Syfy channel’s most watched original movie ever.

The first Sharknado movie, screened on the same channel almost exactly one year ago, was something of a cult social media sensation, and the sequel has amplified that success many times over, pulling in 3.9 million viewers for its one-off showing on Wednesday night.

'Get On Up': Chadwick Boseman brings the funk

(CNN) -- Chadwick Boseman has every reason to feel good as "Get On Up" opens in theaters.

Reviews are strong for the Tate Taylor-directed James Brown biopic as a whole, but critics have been particularly pleased with Boseman, who's managed to transform himself into the late Godfather of Soul.

"Whatever else one may fault about 'Get On Up,' one thing that's faultless is its star, Chadwick Boseman, who plays Brown from age 16 to 60 with a dexterity and invention worthy of his subject," praised Variety.

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Reviews: Here’s What The Critics Are Saying

The time to leave Earth is finally upon us.

“Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel’s first movie set (almost) entirely away from our home world, is now in theaters, promising to bring a new spin to the comic book movie genre that can sometimes feel a little too familiar. But there’s nothing familiar about seeing Chris Pratt run around battling bad guys alongside a gun-toting raccoon and a talking tree creature — and yet, that weirdness works all too well, based on what critics are saying.

Having said that, “Guardians” is not for everyone. There are a few critics who do not seem pleased to visit the “Galaxy” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But those negative reviews are few and far between; more often than not, people are responding to “Guardians” in a big way.
