Abrams unveils Star Wars X-Wing

JJ Abrams has revealed the X-Wing spacecraft, which will feature in Star Wars: Episode VII.

The director of the seventh instalment of the sci-fi series showed the X-Wing, as it will appear in the film, with a pilot climbing into the cockpit in a video posted on his Bad Robot Twitter account.

The filmmaker is also offering two film fans the opportunity to appear in the movie, as part of the Star Wars: Force For Change charity campaign to benefit Unicef.

"We are offering you and a friend to visit the set of Star Wars: Episode VII and be in the movie. But we're also offering something else - the chance to be in an advanced screening of Episode VII before it hits theatres," JJ said.

"By supporting Force For Change, you win a private screening of the movie in your hometown and invite 20 of your closest friends and family. We know how much Star Wars means to so many of you and we love to share the movie with you first by supporting this truly great cause," he added.

The winner will get to shoot a scene in the film and be JJ's VIP guest on the London set, with flights and accommodation all provided.
