Beyonce fashion exhibit coming to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum mostly houses priceless music artifacts from Hall of Famers – like John Lennon’s psychedelic Sgt Pepper’s jacket or an electric guitar owned by Kurt Cobain. But the Cleveland, Ohio museum is starting to showcase more modern memorabilia: A number of Beyoncé fashion items will be featured in an exhibit starting on July 22, Rolling Stone reports.

Located in the Ahmet Ertegun Main Exhibit Hall (in the Legends of Rock section), the exhibit will feature the singer’s iconic black leotard worn during the “Single ladies” music video, along with the skirt and jacket from her 2013 Super Bowl performance. “We felt that (Beyoncé) really needed to take her rightful place alongside Aretha Franklin and the Supremes and Janis Joplin,” Rock Hall curator Meredith Rutledge-Borger said. “Rock & roll has an intergenerational appeal, and we want to make sure we’re hitting all the right notes and keeping up with what’s happening today and what’s legendary today.”
Earlier this month,s the museum launched its “Right Here, Right Now” exhibit, which features items from the Black Keys, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
Beyoncé won’t be eligible for a Rock Hall induction until 2022 (as a Destiny’s Child member) or 2027 (as a solo artist), but she’s still a modern legend: Back in June, she topped Forbes’ latest Celebrity 100 List – which ranks celebrity dominance based on money and fame – thanks to a new album, assorted business ventures, endorsement deals and concerts that generated an average of $2.4 million per night.
