Breaking Bad And Matthew McConaughey Win Big At The Television Critics Association Awards

The awards prove that television is the place to be for big name stars!Breaking Bad has continued its run of success by scooping one of the top honours at The Television Critics Association Awards, with Matthew McConaughey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus also winning on the night.

The highly popular TV series, which stars Bryan Cranston and follows a teacher who cooks and sells the drug crystal meth, won Program of the Year for the second year running.

Matthew meanwhile, won for Individual Achievement in Drama for his role as Rust Cohle in HBO’s True Detective, which also stars Woody Harrelson and Michelle Monaghan. True Detective also won Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials.

Former Seinfeld actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus scooped Individual Achievement in Comedy for her role as Selina Meyer in Veep.

Orange Is The New Black, which is aired on Netflix, won Outstanding New Program. The show, which stars Taylor Schilling and Jason Biggs, follows Taylor’s character Piper Chapman as she spends time in prison.

Outstanding Achievement in Drama went to The Good Wife while there was a tie for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy between Veep and Louie.

The 30th Anniversary awards were hosted by Terry Crews at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and are yet more evidence that TV is the place to go for success if you are a big name actor.

While before fans could only usually see their favourite stars acting on the big screen, these days it seems Hollywood’s finest are hoping for the next big role in television.

Television has seen numerous Hollywood actors enjoy success recently, including Maggie Gyllenhaal, who stars in the BBC Two drama, The Honourable Woman, and Zooey Deschanel of New Girl.
