Jackman teams with Marathon Man

Foxtel in Australia has commissioned a series in which Hollywood star Hugh Jackman challenges his overweight friend and Aussie TV personality Gus Worland to run the New York City Marathon.

Gus Worland: Marathon Man will air on Foxtel’s A&E Channel later this year and will document the transformation of Worland from unhealthy couch potato to fitness fanatic.

Jackman, star of The X Men films, and Worland have known each other since childhood, but their lifestyles have taken dramatically different turns.

Worried about his friend’s health, Jackman has challenged Worland to compete in the New York City Marathon in November. In order to do so, Worland must change his eating habits and shed at least 40kg in six months.

The six-part documentary-reality series, produced by Mint Pictures, follows on from Fox8′s An Aussie Goes… strand, which saw Worland infiltrate the fan bases of some of the biggest cricket teams in the world.
