Former New York Giants Michael Strahan and fiancée Nicole Murphy split, one day before induction to Football Hall of Fame

Michael Strahan and his fiancée of five years, Nicole Murphy, ended their relationship Friday. A representative for Strahan, former New York Giants player and co-host of 'Live With Kelly and Michael,' told People magazine the couple called it quits due to their busy work schedules, which made it hard to maintain their relationship.

He’ll be enshrined — but not engaged.

New York Giants great and morning talk-show host Michael Strahan and his fiancée of five years, Nicole Murphy, called it quits Friday — a day before the former defensive end was to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The split was an amicable one as their busy careers doomed their seven-year love affair, the “Live With Kelly and Michael” host’s rep told People.

“They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship,” the Strahan representative told the magazine.

Strahan, 42, and Murphy, 46, a model and star of the VH1 reality show “Hollywood Exes,” started dating in 2007 and became engaged in 2009.

“I have a great relationship and she’s a great girl,” the gridiron star said at the time. “I don't like to talk much about my private life, but I’m really happy.”

The former couple had nine children between them — five of them Murphy’s with her comedian and actor ex-husband Eddie Murphy. Strahan, a Texas native recruited by the NFL in 1993, has four kids from two ex-wives, Jean Muggli and Wanda Hutchins.

The former lovebirds’ careers turned them into a bi-coastal couple: Strahan spends most of his time in New York while Murphy travels back and forth to Los Angeles to film her television show, which is in its third season.

Because of their hectic schedules, the two were thinking about skipping the star-studded wedding ceremony everyone expected.

“We might just have to run off and elope,” Murphy told talk-show host Wendy Williams in April. “We’ve been busy though, this has been crazy.”

“The man’s got 20 jobs right now,” Murphy said of her then-betrothed. “He’s just busy.”

At around the same time, Murphy denied rumors that she had been unfaithful to Strahan. The model, a confessed serial cheater, had been seen getting cozy to French dancer Larry Bourgeois at a Hollywood party, according to the Enquirer.

Strahan retired from football after the 2007, season when he helped the Giants win their first Super Bowl victory in two decades.
