Comic-Con 2014: 'Game of Thrones' cast revealed for season five

The HBO fantasy hit will welcome new additions including Jonathan Pryce and 'Star Trek' alum Alexander Siddig next season, the network revealed to San Diego Comic-Con crowd.

There will be more potential victims to kill off on “Game of Thrones” next season after HBO announced the casting of a legion of new faces for the fifth season of its hit fantasy series.

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed the new cast, highlighted by former Bond villain Jonathan Pryce, along with a blooper reel from the normally serious series at San Diego Comic-Con Friday.

Geeks in attendance were rejoicing with the news that “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” alum Alexander Siddig is signed up to play Dornish ruler Doran Martell, brother to the late Prince Oberyn (Pedro Pascal), who was last seen as putty in the hands of the Mountain.

Pryce will play the High Sparrow, described by HBO as “a devout and pious man (who) came to King’s Landing to serve those forgotten by much of the world — the poor, the downtrodden and the infirm — and quickly amassed a large following.

“His fellow believers have swarmed over the city, ministering to the lowest and decrying the corruption of the highest.”
Keisha Castle-Hughes, who was nominated for an Academy Award as a 13-year-old for 2002’s “Whale Rider,” is on board as Obara Sand, the warrior daughter of Prince Oberyn. Jessica Henwick and Rosabell Laurenti Sellers have been cast as her sisters, Nymeria and Tyene Sand, respectively.

“Doom” veteran DeObia Oparei will play Areo Hotah, “the long-serving captain of Doran Martell’s palace guard, renowned for his loyalty and his longaxe.”

The role of Cersei’s daughter, Myrcella, was recast with 14-year-old Nell Tiger Free taking over the role from Aimee Richardson.

The next season of “Game of Thrones” will bow next spring.
