Bollywood star releases teaser of her new film on Friday, the day she turned 32
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who turned 32 on Friday, treated her fans with a teaser of her much-awaited movie Mary Kom — and much like the movie’s poster, she has packed quite a punch in it.
“For you... a sneak peak into the life of a true fighter... #MaryKomPunch Full trailer coming soon. Can’t wait to share it,” the National Award-winning actress, who received many birthday wishes online, tweeted.
In the 53-second teaser, the actress is seen fighting in the boxing ring and she looks totally in character. “Most Champions Make Their Name. She Made History,” the tagline reads.
Co-produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions, and directed by Omung Kumar, the biopic is due to release on October 2.
Meanwhile, several celebrities, including Lata Mangeshkar, Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor, Rahul Bose and Manish Malhotra, wished the former Miss World on her birthday.
Makers of Mary Kom, based on the life of boxer M.C. Mary Kom’s life, have said they will try their best to release the movie in Manipur, the Olympic bronze medallist’s home state, where militants have banned the screening of Hindi films.
“The film is set in Manipur, Mary’s hometown, and highlights the milieu and culture from where a world champion arose. We will try our best to ensure the release of the film in the territory,” Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, said.
Mary Kom was made with the support of the five-time World Champion boxer. Chopra spent a lot of time with Kom to understand the nuances, stance and style of a boxer.
The film’s first look was unveiled via two posters earlier last week, and they were received well on social networking sites.
Fans are hopeful that the movie turns out to be as promising as its poster, while members of the film fraternity hailed Chopra’s ability to slip into any role.
