Guardians Of The Galaxy coming for Disney Infinity 2.0

Disney has announced a specially-themed Play Set for imminent Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy, plus toys for all the characters.

The film is out next Thursday in the UK but Disney Infinity 2.0 itself is not out until September, and yet that’s not stopping Disney from announcing a special Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set for the game.

It will feature a new story that has the Guardians on the run from movie bad guy Ronan the Accuser, after stealing a ‘powerful cosmic object’ from him.

You’ll be able to play as Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Gamora, and Groot in the Play Set, as well as crossover characters Iron Man (from The Avengers Play Set) and Nova (from The Spider-Man Play Set).

If you want to mix things up a bit more any of the Disney Infinity characters can appear in the Toy Box mode, which allows you to create your own games and levels.

The catch is though that only Star-Lord and Gamora come packaged with the Play Set, so you’ll have to buy the toys for the others separately before they become unlocked. Which as you can imagine starts to get very expensive.

Especially as there are also Guardians-specific power discs that include a team-up with alien ally Yondu and some space armour for Gamora.

Disney Infinity was created following the huge success of Activision’s Skylanders games and toys, and has sold over 3 million starter packs since August 2013. The user-created content has also seen 12 million downloads in that time.
