Deaf mute beauty Princess Alanis Pura to represent PHL in pageant in Taiwan

Princess Alanis Pura, a deaf mute beauty from Pasay City and Pampanga, whose life story was featured in GMA Network's Magpakailanman on September 14, 2013, was crowned "Queen of the Philippines" in Subic Bay, Zambales.

GMA News'  evening newscasts reported on Wednesday that Pura  will be the country's representative at the Face of Beauty International contest in Taiwan in November.

To prepare for the task, Pura will undergo further training in modeling, fashion, and make-up.

Pura said winning one of the pageant's crowns was a shock and a delight as the win was unexpected.

With her newfound fame, she plans on creating a foundation meant to empower fellow deaf-mutes and aid them in education, especially those in poverty.

She hopes that her win inspires them to never lose hope, and encouraged them to seek God to help them reach their dreams.

Only on its third year, Face of Beauty International  gathers over 60 women from different continents to share their "knowledge, experience, and developed skills with many young women who struggle to find their beauty and potential within themselves around the world."

"With no height or weight restrictions to the Face of Beauty International competition, we believe all young women are perfect and beautifully unique in their own way. Our contestants and winners will continue to be Faces of Beauty worldwide and encourage young women to find their own beauty/confidence to help them strive for the best in their lives," the beauty pageant organizers said.
