Beyoncé releases 'Flawless' remix featuring Nicki Minaj

Queen Bey addresses the infamous elevator scuffle between her husband Jay Z and sister Solange with a line in her new remix for 'Flawless.'

Beyonce extended her love of surprise releases by slipping out a new remix of her song “Flawless” - featuring Nicki Minaj - very early Sunday morning.

Appearing on her web site after 1 a.m., the sneak-attack song features a line from Bey addressing the infamous Solange/Jay-Z dust-up in the elevator of the Standard Hotel from several months back.

“We escalate, up in this bitch like elevators, of course sometimes s--t go down when there’s billion dollars on an elevator,” Bey sings slyly.

“You can say what you want. I’m the s--t,” she continues.

The song does not directly address the continuing rumors of Bey and Jay heading for divorce. It’s timing, though, could be seen as a way to deflect attention from all the catty talk. On the other hand, the reference to the couple representing a “billion dollars on an elevator” plays right into stories the Daily News reported this week which characterize the relationship between Bey and Jay as having far more to do with business than passion at this point.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are currently appearing together on what may well be the year's biggest tour, dubbed the "On The Run" tour.

Minaj dominates the second half of the remix, with outrageous verse like “Like MJ’s doctor, they’re killing me: propofol. I know they hope I fall, but tell them winning is my motherf-----g protocol.”

The song, which originally appeared on Mrs. Carter’s “Beyonce” album last December, has a fresh and trance-y new feel in the remix. It also takes on a tart new sample, - from the horn part of Outkcast’s song “SpottieOttieDopalicious,” which appeared on their classic 1998 album “Aquemini.”

While Beyonce and Minaj bring equal bravado to the remix, they don’t have much rapport. They largely play to their separate strengths - Bey with a powerhouse vocal, Minaj with a smartly plotted rap. Her verse starts off slowly, then whips up faster and faster as it goes.

Rumors had spread of the release of a “Flawless” remix during the last week. They escalated after Minaj issued a statement saying she was holding up her own single “Anaconda,” for a few days and “soon you’ll know why.”

The new take on “Flawless” comes amid a traffic jam of releases for Minaj. Last Tuesday, she appeared on a high energy new dance song with Ariana Grande and Jesse J called “Bang Bang,” and the rapper will release the “Anaconda” single Monday.

“I score before I ever throw the ball,” Minaj raps in the new “Flawless.” “These bitches washed up and there no f---in’ soap involved.”
