Viral Video Chart: Fifty Shades, Shakira gets Oxford treatment and fainting dogs

Game of Thrones actors show their human side, a little girl learns the harsh realities of life and Assassin’s Creed Unity

Painful as it may be, there really is no competition for the week’s top viral video. The trailer for the new Fifty Shades of Grey film, due out next year, is already 2014’s most viewed YouTube video, with nearly 37m hits. Opinions differ as to how, ahem, exciting the trailer really is, but whether it’s actually ‘50 shades of vanilla’ or not, people have certainly watched it to find out.

Elsewhere on the internet this week: a group of flamboyant Oxford University students release an a cappella version of Shakira’s hit Hips Don’t Lie to raise money for a local children’s hospice. Shakira tweets the link to her 26 million twitter followers. Result? Viral hit.

What with its scenes of a violent and … risque … nature, Game of Thrones isn’t a laugh a minute. That’s why it’s nice to see its usually-frowning cast having so much fun on set in this roundup of season 4’s bloopers. They all look like such nice people in real life.

Meanwhile, a little girl called Sadie is devastated to learn that her baby brother won’t stay cute forever (aren’t we all, Sadie). And a dog is so excited at being reunited with its owner that it faints.

A promotional video for the video game Assassin’s Creed Unity has parkour practitioners leaping all over Paris and, in more serious news, Jon Snow breaks the mould of broadcast television and delivers an editorial on the situation in Gaza to camera from the Channel 4 News studio.

It’s been a week full of film trailer releases and these teasers for the next instalments of The Hunger Games and The Hobbit are pretty much as expected. Oh, and there’s this trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road, which is, well, mad.
