MEET Sheila Vogel-Coupe, the London grandmother with an unusual pastime.
The 85-year-old works as an escort and only got into the profession four years ago at the age of 81.
She pulls in up to $450 AUD an hour for her work and entertains up to 10 clients a week who are as young as 20.
"It's something I wanted to do," Sheila told APN.
"It's something I wanted to do," Sheila told APN.
"It keeps me happy, keeps me young. I have lovely experiences with these gentlemen."
The grandmother is well-travelled and enjoyed two happy marriages, both of which ended when her husbands passed away from illness.
"I've never known such a thing as divorce, and sexually I had everything I wanted with these two men," Sheila said.
"It wasn't until the last one died that I realised there was something I missed, so I got out and got it.
"I was lonely and I wanted to keep my freedom."
The straight-talking senior features in the new TV documentary Extraordinary Lives: My Granny the Escort airing tonight on Channel 9.
The doco follows three women who have turned to the sex industry for work in their later years.
Sheila is by far the oldest of the three. Fellow escorts Beverly and Sophie are 64 and 57 respectively.
And she's certainly not shy about being an escort, or bothered by the widespread social taboos associated with it.
"I am very careful. I won't see just anybody," she said.
"I am very, very choosy of whom I will see. I won't just see anybody because I don't do it just for the money. Yes the money's very useful, but I do it for satisfaction for myself and more importantly I like to make my men happy."
