Former Governor and Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger pushing Australian property

FORMER politician and Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger still has huge pulling power and he’s using it now to promote Australian property.

The star has filmed a series of television ads for online listing site, realestate.com.au which started appearing on Australian television last night.

Asked how they got the Terminator to take part in the campaign a spokeswoman said all they had to do was ask him and he said yes.

“He has great sense of humour,’’ she said.

Schwarzenegger took part in seven television commercials which are set to air in the coming weeks as part of a new campaign, Australia Lives Here.

In the first commercial Schwarzenegger reveals he is considering moving back to his homeland of Austria and that he has discovered a new search tool which will help him find a property.

Schwarzenegger wrongly assumes the .au in the realestate.com.au website address is an Austrian site.

His new Australian assistant Dylan isn’t able to correct his assumption as Schwarzenegger thinks Dylan just has a funny accent and doesn't ’t know how to say Austria correctly.

realestate.com.au Group Manager Marketing Strategy, Natalie Feehan, said the campaign was the culmination of six months work.

Schwarzenegger said he had a lot of fun filming the campaign and he learnt a bit about Australia in the process including how to say Wagga Wagga, which he mispronounces Vagga, Vagga in the television commercial.

“I also found it’s hard to find a home with a cheese cave or professionally equipped gym,” he said.

Work on the campaign started through social media sites Twitter and Instagram a few weeks ago, according to Ms Feehan.

She said the character of assistant Dylan Blocke is played by actor Wade Briggs.

The campaign stated when ‘Dylan’ arrived in the US looking for a job and landed the gig of Schwarzenegger’s “assistant” which he posted on Twitter and Instagram with many on social media believing it was true.

Ms Feehan said this was designed to create early intrigue around the story.

BWM’s Managing Director Mark Watkin said the idea of using Arnold Schwarzenegger was

deliberately left-field.

“When we conceived the creative idea of Arnold as the lead character, it was because we wanted

cut through and to make people think differently about the realestate.com.au brand.’’
